Dealing with the Past Principles is a civic initiative, promoted by the informal coalition consisting of Humanitarian Law Center Kosovo (HLCK), Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR KS) Kosova Rehabilitation Center for Torture Victims (KRCT), Integra, BIRN and Nora Ahmetaj.

The initiative aims to prevent harmful discourse and actions related to the conflict legacy and will serve as a reference document, where anyone who violates his/her principles should be held morally responsible.

In order to promote the principles of Dealing with the Past and in particular, the principle "Persons convicted of conflict-related crimes should not hold public posts or be treated as national heroes ", HLCK publishes this analysis which deals with two cases of which have been contrary to the above principle and explains why it is very important to identify and report such cases so that they do not turn into a negative precedent. Also in order to reduce the number of those who violate the principle, the analysis also provides recommendations on what actions should be taken by political and public actors so that these violations are not repeated.
