Dealing with the Past Principles is a civic initiative, promoted by an informal coalition of 5 organizations and an expert: Humanitarian Law Center Kosovo (HLCK), Kosova Rehabilitation Center for Torture Victims, Integra, Youth Initiative for Human Rights, BIRN and Nora Ahmetaj.
The initiative aims to prevent harmful discourse and actions related to the conflict legacy and will serve as a reference document, where anyone who violates his/her principles should be held morally responsible.
In order to promote the principles of Dealing with the Past and in particular the principle "Equality, inclusiveness and reconciliation must be promoted by all", HLCK publish this analysis, which contains three cases which have violated the above principle. These cases have provoked reactions from public figures, civil society and relatives of the victims, which are included in the analysis. Therefore, in order to reduce the number of those who violate the principles, the document provides recommendations on how political and public actors should act in order to treat all war victims equally.
